Lot 100: AN ORILIANTLIST PORCELAIN PLATE DEPICTS ARAB HORSEMAN, FRANCE, 19TH CENTURY
0 viewsSold for: £400
A finely painted Orientalist porcelain plate depicting an Arab horseman mounted on a richly caparisoned steed, accompanied by a standing attendant. The scene is set within an architectural backdrop suggestive of a North African or Middle Eastern townscape, rendered with warm tonal contrasts and lively detail. The horse and figures are executed with remarkable naturalism, capturing both movement and expression in the spirit of 19th-century French Orientalism.
Signed at the lower right with artist’s initials, the painting demonstrates the period’s fascination with exotic themes and masterful enamel painting on porcelain.
