Request a valuation

Our specialists offer complimentary and confidential valuations for sale at auction. Send a description and photographs using the form below, or email info@kewauctions.com. We welcome enquiries about individual items and collections across our art and antiques departments.

What to include with your enquiry

  • Photographs of the complete item, with additional views of the back, base and any signature or maker’s mark.
  • Dimensions and any information about material, maker or date that you already have.
  • Details of damage, repairs or restoration, including close-up photographs where possible.
  • Ownership history and supporting documents, such as receipts, earlier auction catalogues or exhibition labels.

If you do not know the age or maker, send the information you have. Please arrange delivery or an appointment with us before bringing items to the saleroom.

    From valuation to auction

    1. Discuss the item. The information you provide helps us consider the work and what further photographs, documents or examination may be needed.
    2. Agree the consignment. Before consigning, discuss the proposed sale, estimate, any reserve and the charges that apply. A reserve is the minimum hammer price agreed for a lot; changes require our consent and your written confirmation under the seller terms.
    3. Prepare for the sale. Agree delivery arrangements and provide accurate provenance information. Review the catalogue description and tell us about any corrections before the sale.
    4. Receive the outcome. After the auction, the result and the buyer’s payment determine the next steps. The published seller terms explain settlement and the arrangements for unsold lots.

    Fees and payment to sellers

The hammer price is not the seller’s net proceeds. Vendor’s commission, the entry fee and other applicable expenses are deducted. The Seller Terms and Conditions explain commission, illustration charges, loss and damage liability, withdrawal, storage and unsold items. Ask us to confirm the charges for your particular consignment before agreeing to sell.

Settlement normally takes place 28 days after the sale, provided the buyer has paid, as set out in the seller terms. If a lot is unsold, contact us about the next step and any collection instructions.
