A well-crafted tinned copper bowl from 19th-century Afghanistan, finely engraved inside and out with intricate vegetal, geometric, and figural designs. The exterior is encircled by a bold band of cursive inscription interspersed with roundels, including the name Sultan Muhammed Kandahari, followed by further benedictory phrases. Below the inscription, the body is decorated with repeating cartouches and stylised floral motifs arranged in a neatly ordered lattice.
