A remarkable Eastern Roman intaglio carved from translucent orange agate, dating to the 2nd–3rd century AD. This finely executed piece once adorned a marriage ring and depicts a touching double portrait of a man and woman in profile, facing each other in a tender and intimate gaze. Their hairstyles and garments are rendered with exquisite detail, capturing the elegance and craftsmanship of Roman gem engraving.

The stone is smoothly polished on the reverse, showing its natural banding and warm hues, with subtle inclusions adding to its character. The obverse carving remains sharp and vibrant, showcasing the skill of a master artisan from the Roman East.
